We are open 8:30am to 6:30pm Monday to Friday and 9:00am to 12:00pm on Saturdays.
In the event of an emergency: Animals being animals, they don’t always run to schedule so in the case of an emergency there is always help and advice available 24 hours a day. Just call 01442 833 198 and a recorded message will give you a number to phone which goes directly to the vet on call.
If you are concerned your animal has ingested something poisonous, or just aren’t sure, you can call us or Vets Now. You can also get specific poisons information from the Animal PoisonLine.
If it were up to Stephanie, she would be on call all the time but in order that our vets are fresh and on the ball to treat your animals during the day we feel it is important to give them a break. So we use a dedicated 24 hour emergency service called Vets Now. Vets Now are staffed by specialist emergency vets and nurses who are up all night, all weekends (from Saturday 12pm onward) and bank holidays caring for sick animals. They have full facilities with the state of the art emergency equipment and the staff are very experienced in their field. Located only 10 minutes away in Hemel, Vets Now take over Barton Lodge’s premises in Midland Road overnight and at the weekend and will be there waiting to help you with any urgent queries or emergencies at any hour. Although they are using Barton Lodge’s premises they remain independent and provide the out of hours cover not only for us but also for the vast majority of vets in this area.
