Hi, I’m Sam; I joined the Hope Vets team in February 2014. My love of animals started at a very young age – much to the despair of my parents at times! I went through a stage where I refused to walk on the grass in case I killed anything, I would save (and still do) the worms stranded on the pavement after it rains and used to kidnap the neighbour’s cat. My mum had a brainwave and asked our local vets if I could volunteer at their surgery. Well, that was it; I spent most of my weekends and school holidays as a volunteer until I was 16 and was then given a full time job. I qualified as a VN in 1988. I still feel incredibly lucky to be getting paid for something that I would do voluntarily (don’t tell Steph or Steve!). I have a husband named Simon who WILL one day let me have a pig as a pet, and together we have three children, Harriet, Issy and Joseph. We’ve had various animals over the years including: Norman the grey squirrel that I hand-reared from a baby and Fatso and Tuee the rats. At the moment we have Muppet the crazy rescue dog, Donut (more recent crazy rescue dog), Colin, Edna and Nevil the cats, Eric and Pandy the tortoises and finally Cod IV and Tony III the fish.
I am really looking forward to meeting you and your pets!
RIP Sid the lurcher and Psycho the cat.
